Jose S. Martinez is a Democratic candidate for Lake County Board, District 1, representing the communities of Antioch, Lindenhurst, Old Mill Creek, and Wadsworth. He is running to bring steady, grounded leadership to the County Board, the kind that comes from decades of public service and a deep connection to the community.

As a past appointed planning and zoning commissioner and currently an elected village trustee in Antioch, Jose has seen firsthand that real progress happens when government works alongside the community toward shared goals.

Through more than 25 years as a public servant and union official, Jose has learned that the strongest connections are built by people pulling together to get things done. That's the mindset he will bring to the Lake County Board.

Born and raised in eastern Lake County, Jose calls Antioch home, where he and his wife have raised their two teenage children. His dedication to serve is grounded in hard work, practical hands-on experience, and a deep connection to the people and communities that make Lake County special.

From working on his family's farmland, to sharing his knowledge as a beekeeper, to participating at the Lake County Fair, to valuing the county's equestrian community as a former horse owner, Jose has a personal appreciation for the land, people, and traditions that help define the open spaces and rural character we love.

Jose's commitment to service extends well beyond elected office. For years he has been deeply involved in civic and nonprofit organizations across the community, working alongside neighbors, volunteers, and local leaders to support the causes that strengthen Lake County. Through that service, Jose has built lasting relationships and a practical understanding of how collaboration, accountability, and community engagement can improve people's lives.
